Scott Spiering, President & CEO

Scott Spiering, President and Chief Portfolio Manager, has worked in the financial services industry since 1987 and holds a full range of professional securities licenses. He has earned impressive returns for clients as a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Prudential Securities and Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Kidder Peabody, and successfully matched a variety of corporations and high net worth individuals to independent money managers for Merrill Lynch. Mr. Spiering has also had diverse life experiences including a combat tour in Vietnam and post-graduate work at the prestigious Brooks Institute. In addition, Mr. Spiering is a speaker and an author. His book, The Frugal Investor, has been helpful to thousands of investors all over the country.

Jonathan L. Chatfield, CFA, Portfolio Manager, CFO

Mr. Chatfield enjoys educating investors about the benefits and risks of global capital markets and is committed dealing with clients with the honesty, fairness and integrity they deserve. The foundation of his investment philosophy is his belief that the keys to long-term investment success are diversification and prudent investment selection centered on a well-defined asset allocation policy. Through this process Mr. Chatfield constructs portfolios that balance risk and return in order to satisfy client investment objectives.

Prior to joining Anchor Bay Mr. Chatfield served as Portfolio Manager and investment committee member for Pitchard, Hubble and Herr of Dallas, Tx. and FLC Capital Advisors of Palm Desert, Ca. He has also provided portfolio management, investment research and data management services as a consultant for Childrey Investment Partners in San Diego.; t3 Equity Labs in Denver; Closed End Fund Advisors in Richmond, Va.; Earnings-Expert.com in Evergreen, Co., and Money Professionals LLC in Destin, Fl.

Mr. Chatfield is a University of California at Davis graduate and received his Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Managerial Economics in 1990. In 2000 he completed the CFA program and was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of San Diego. He holds the Series 7, Series 63 and Series 65 securities licenses.

Tim Lackey, Investment Advisor

Tim Lackey of Carlsbad attended Business College in California and Phoenix, Arizona focusing on Business Administration. After college he became an American Board of Optometry certified optician and spent 5 years in the optical industry exceeding industry standards in service. In 1993 Tim changed careers and began work in the fitness industry, working directly with an industry pioneer Ray Wilson and the Family Fitness Centers. Tim helped the company transition from a local chain to a nationwide powerhouse that we now know as 24hour fitness. After years as a general manager Tim in 2001 entered the financial services industry as a financial consultant with Morgan Stanley. After several years of earning positive returns for his clients, Tim relocated his practice to Anchor Bay Capital to offer his clients the flexibility and service they deserve. Mr. Lackey always strives to provide the best client service and support as well as taking time for himself in the gym as well as fishing, kayaking and golf. He currently holds a General Securities Series 7, series 66, series 31, Ca Insurance license #0D75552, and Ca Long Term Care insurance license.

Leonard Schnedar, Investment Advisor

A North County resident since 1969 married with three children. Len studied Business Economics at the University of San Diego, then began his career in real estate development and construction management for fourteen years. Len’s outside interests revolve around family activities including biking, hiking, running and motocross. He has been in the financial services industry since 1997 when he started with Morgan Stanley. While there, he focused on bringing value to investors. Now, as an independent advisor, Len feels he is ideally positioned to optimize the value he delivers. His investment creed is “prudent holdings, fast, personalized service, at a reasonable cost, and then asking, how else may I serve you?”.

Melissa Turner, Controller, Operations Manager

Melissa Turner is a graduate of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in Business Administration with a concentration in finance. Upon graduation, Melissa worked for a non-profit organization where she created and maintained a financial tracking system. There she developed a desire for managing accounts, forecasting budgets, and performing administrative duties. Outside of Anchor Bay Capital, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband Alex, two young sons, traveling, and participating in many recreational activities. She has her Series 6 & 63 Securities Licenses.

Maria Emery, Client Services Manager

Maria Emery is a 1986 University of Arizona graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.  After working in school district accounting for several years in California, Maria obtained an elementary education credential in 1991 and taught sixth grade in Orange County until 1999.  Upon moving to Carlsbad and raising her three children, Maria has spent her time volunteering for local organizations including PTA, Carlsbad Youth Baseball and Pop Warner Football.  Maria was employed for four years as a Classroom Support Teacher at Kelly Elementary School in Carlsbad.  During her free time you can find Maria with her husband Steve while they enjoy watching their children participate in a variety of sports.

Christy Zelenka, Office Manager

Christy is a graduate of San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Art’s Degree in Advertising and an Emphasis in Sociology and English. For the past twenty years she has been a full time Mom raising her three children. She could frequently be found volunteering in her children’s classrooms, with the PTA and with the Carlsbad Youth Baseball Association. Christy is an avid reader and has been an active member and leader of a book club for the past ten years. In the past, Christy has written training manuals and trained personnel on the use of computer applications. She has also worked with the Department Of Defense to generate manpower costs for proposed Defense Contract work. She enjoys reading and knitting, and is busy with her children and friends in her free time.
